Day 69: Memories of far away places...

No Bill and Ted quotes today (69, dude!) but i do have daily Facebook reminders of a holiday in Hawaii five years ago. And thats what got me drawing the below over the last few days.

Its based on two pics I took when I was there - one of a kind of bamboo that was growing wild on Maui and the other a kind of plant that was growing in the fern forests on the big island. Pics below.

I didn’t use the bamboo pic for reference. That I just drew from memory - maybe it shows? But the plant I needed to reference the picture.

Theres more to be added to this. Just not yet. I want to do other things and practice other textures before that happens. In the meantime here is where I got to on Saturday night before packing in.

I continued it this morning and got the rest of the leaves done.

Then I did the roots and added some rocks and grass around the base.

So that’s that for a while. Next up i want to do a gunfight! No idea why that’s crept into my head but I’ve already been doodling ideas. Watch this space.
