Yesterday and today was a continuation of my quest to learn new ways to work out human proportions. I was doing this in two ways. Applying practical methodology to determine the size of the body and it’s parts using the head as a basic measure, and doing some really bad drawings of my own feet and hands while I was watching Netflix!
This sums up the hands and feet doodling:

I’m really learning stuff, honest!
Now that that’s out of the way, does anyone reading this rememeber way back to Day 21 when I was doing S curves? Turns out they are very handy when drawing the human figure! Especially the female figure.
When I wasnt making poor attempts to draw my toes I was doing these:

As you can see I was talking notes as I went. This was a kind of draw along with the tutor-led videos I replaced the Fontaine book with.
Once the male front view was done the tutorial moved on to the side view (note the counter-intuitive tilt of the rib cage)

And then the same for the female figure (And before you think it, no, I’m not obsessed with boobs!)

Both the male and female views are drawn using the “heroic” 8 heads tall template. The aim is to practice drawing these over the next couple of days to get used to doing it. Then I’ll move on to the next stage of the coursework.
