Day 13: Laugh it up, fuzzball...

The 13th day was short but good.
I started with a recap of yesterday just to remind me where I was and give me a jumping off point for today. Remember the pedestal/table stacking?

I did another stack (left) just to kick me off and then started to draw more complex stuff (right and below)

I still didn’t feel 100% so I did some more mucking around with cubes using some examples from the book I’ve been using to help me (You Can Draw in 30 Days by Mark Kistler). I just realised I’d been mentioning books and videos I’d been consulting but hadn’t given any titles or links!
Thsi image was me just re-doing something the author had done as an example (as are most of them which is the point of the book)

I’ve altered things slightly and tried to use my own imagination when carrying out the exercises from the book to varying degrees of success. In this case I tried to be smart and used a flattened cylinder from the exercise as a verandah.
I mucked around a bit more on some copy paper practising drawing lines to improve my accuracy. Id rate my current ability to draw a straight line as fair-to-middling. Last week id have said poor so im definitely getting somewhere. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey as they say!
Anyway as the title of the blog would suggest I did eventually move on to the next lesson - textures. My friends on Facebook will have already seen my fuzzy balls earlier this evening but here they are again for those who missed them:

I was quite chuffed with these and would happily have stopped there but I was starting to enjoy myself. After mucking around with these (resisted the temptation to say playing with my balls there) for a bit. I decided to try the challenge for the lesson - drawing a koala bear.
It is designed to combine the techniques above into a single drawing - also includes the knowledge gained from practising all those spheres the other day.
Here is the result.

I’ll be doing more doodles like thi tomorrow to get used to the new things I’ve learned today so probably no blog until Tuesday.
